Savannah has an abundance of hotels ranging from luxury to quaint bed & breakfasts and everything in between. We decided to opt out of a room block since many had limitations. Savannah is a bucket list destination for many, so we want you to choose what works best for your preferences! We highly recommend our guest stay within the Historical District, especially when considering Airbnb (which has many great options.)
Below are a few personal recommendations based on true experience staying in them!
Savannah International Airport (SAV) is about 20 minutes outside of the historical downtown district. We recommend our guest use this airport when flying in. Other options (Jacksonville, Charleston, and Atlanta) are 2+ hours away.
Downtowner is a free ride share app servicing the downtown Savannah district. Click link below to download the app!
Savannah has both Uber and Lyft for quick transportation to and from downtown. We recommend sticking to this as many places in downtown require paying to park. Majority of downtown Savannah is walkable, so a car is not something we'd consider a necessity. Some of the hotels may offer car services as part of your stay.
There are rental car options (Enterprise, Hertz, Avis) at the airport if this is something you do deem necessary!
The JW Marriott is a beautiful hotel right on the waterfront of the Savannah River. It has 2 rooftop bars, and countless restaurants attached to it. Only recommendation is to stay on the river side of the hotel, because some of the bars on River Street can be noisy until 3 a.m.
The DeSoto is a centrally located hotel right across the street from the wedding ceremony site and reception venue. It has great views of the city and is in a central location to walk all around the Historical District.
This hotel is further down the river on the Eastern Wharf. It is a luxury hotel in a quieter area with stunning views. This is where we stayed after we tied the knot at our legal ceremony.
Hotel Bardo is newly renovated right on Forsyth Park!
